Tanzania Travel Insurance

At Sons & Daughter Safaris, your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. While we take every possible measure to ensure your trip runs smoothly, unexpected situations can occur, from flight delays and lost luggage to medical emergencies or trip cancellations.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that all travellers obtain comprehensive travel insurance before beginning their journey to Tanzania.
Your travel insurance should ideally cover:

  • • Trip cancellation and interruption (in case you need to cancel or cut short your safari)
  • • Medical expenses and emergency evacuation
  • • Lost or delayed baggage
  • • Accidents or injury
  • • Travel delays and missed connections

Please check your policy carefully to ensure that it provides adequate protection for all safari and adventure activities you plan to take part in, including wildlife drives, hot air balloon rides, and trekking (if applicable).

Remember to carry a copy of your insurance policy and emergency contact information during your trip, and share these details with the Sons & Daughter Safaris travel consultant who manages your booking, in case of any emergency.

At Sons & Daughter Safaris, we believe that being well-prepared allows you to travel with confidence and enjoy every moment of your Tanzanian adventure without worry.

What Is Not Always Covered by Comprehensive Travel Insurance?
While comprehensive travel insurance offers broad protection, coverage varies by provider and policy. Travelers should carefully review their policy details before departure.Certain events are often excluded or only partially covered, including war-related incidents, political unrest, civil disturbances, and some acts of terrorism. Coverage for these situations depends entirely on the specific insurance provider and the policy purchased.

Travelers are advised to confirm directly with their insurer what protections apply in such circumstances. In addition, trip cancellation policies may contain exclusions related to government travel advisories, pre-existing medical conditions, or specific high-risk activities. It is important to verify these conditions with your insurance provider at the time of purchase.

Important Note on Medical Evacuation
Medical evacuation coverage is essential when traveling in Tanzania, especially when visiting remote safari areas or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Some insurance companies require pre-authorization before approving emergency evacuation. In remote bush locations — such as Serengeti National Park or Nyerere National Park — communication may be limited, and immediate medical decisions may need to be made on safety grounds.

We strongly recommend that travellers confirm with their insurance provider:

  • Whether pre-authorization is required for emergency evacuation

  • What procedures should be followed in remote locations

  • Whether 24-hour emergency assistance support is available

Sons and Daughter Safaris will assist in coordinating emergency logistics where necessary; however, all insurance approvals, coverage decisions, and reimbursements remain strictly between the traveller and their insurance provider.
